the heat off the road
flays me bare
until there is nothing
but relentless bitumen
haze, skinned sweat soaking
your scent from my clothes
the heat off the road
flays me bare
until there is nothing
but relentless bitumen
haze, skinned sweat soaking
your scent from my clothes
I feel painfully stripped as I read and reread this. To sweat another’s scent from clothes is extraordinarily passionate.
i love this! it’s very sensual. the last two lines are my favorite. sexy pheremones…
Raw and earthy (and not a road trip for the timid!) Excellent work.
Powerful piece! Full of feeling and personally transferable! Love it!!
thank you everyone for your positive feedback! It’s been really encouraging. I wrote this piece realising that here in Melbourne, we haven’t had a real summer yet, where the road melts, and rises to suck the everything from you. I drew on those memories of stinking hot, vastly open days, where you are totally exposed, without respite.
I came, I have read it several times, I am in awe .. !
..few words but very descriptive..lovely..many thanks..
